— CHOSTAKOVITCH Dimitri
Complete string quartets (1938-1974)

From 1998 to 2005, the Debussy String Quartet took up the challenge of recording Shostakovich’s fifteen quartets, a veritable musical monument. Uninhibited by any of the illustrious Slavonic ensembles, the Quartet sets itself apart with an interpretation that is round and legible, intimate and magical. Shostakovich is a composer who is constantly being rediscovered, and the complete works of his quartets are regularly performed in concert by the musicians of the Quatuor Debussy.

'I have rarely listened to the music of Shostakovich with such attention.'
